Get the Support You Need

Trauma-Informed Approach Public Health Nurses (TIA PHNs) are trained to work with parents and caregivers who have experienced trauma, including PTSD, and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Trauma can include physical challenges (illness, altered ability, birth trauma), mental health challenges, substance use, CPS involvement, justice system involvement, or experiences of racism, inequity or physical or emotional abuse. TIA PHNs can provide hands-on teaching and support in the home that is flexible with your schedule.

TIA PHNs support clients to meet their health goals by providing information about healthy living including:

  • Healthy Eating
  • Healthy Sleep
  • Healthy Exercise
  • Healthy Stress reduction, including Mindfulness
  • Healthy Relationship insight, understanding and support
  • Healthy Self Care

TIA PHNs support clients to:

  • Connect with medical, dental and insurance resources.
  • Know the signs of depression, anxiety, and other behavioral health challenges to make sure you receive the services you want.
  • Learn about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and baby and child health needs.
  • Learn about the ways your baby communicates, and how your baby learns and develops.

Who may benefit from a TIA PHN?

  • Families needing support during pregnancy (accessing prenatal care, preparing for childbirth, high risk medical concerns).
  • Families with infants/children who have developmental, growth, or feeding concerns.
  • Pregnant and parenting teens
  • Families experiencing perinatal mental health and/or substance use concerns.
